Employment Inventory Soft Skills Assessment

The Employment Inventory (EI) from Technology Based Solutions (TBS) assesses behavioral characteristics that correlate to job performance, tenure, and optionally, customer service, and sales.  The EI was originally developed for use by large retail, manufacturing, transportation and service companies.  The TBS version can be used for both entry-level job candidate screening and to provide objective work behavior assessment and development for populations who are experiencing barriers to employment.

Assessment results from EI can lead to increased retention and punctuality, increased reliability, increased motivation, and increased ability to get along with co-workers and supervisors.

Employers and Human Resource professionals have now used it 100 million times worldwide to identify entry-level individuals who:

  1. Are job ready, and will produce more
  2. Will stay on the job longer, and, optionally
  3. Will provide better customer service
  4. Will thrive in sales and increase profitability.

As reported by managers and supervisors:  Prospects hired as a result of the EI test who have been on the job for a few weeks show these kinds of characteristics:

  • Keep working even when others are standing around (25% more)
  • Give customers full attention (35% more)
  • Sell more - Of staff hired with the EI Sales scale in clothing stores, 19% more met their dollar- per-hour sales goals
  • Take initiative to find another task (18% more)
  • Put aside other work to assist customers (25% more)
  • Approach customers to help them (36% more)
  • Use a weak excuse to stay home (16% less)
  • Be late for work without a good reason (15% less)
  • Act irritated at customer’s request (26% less)
  • Forgot to perform a routine task (24% less)
  • 51% less turnover in a hospital system

Educators, Vocational Evaluators and Workforce Development Professionals use an expanded version of the Employment Inventory to:

  1. Identify behavioral barriers to steady and productive employment
  2. Provide students and clients with objective “soft skills” employability feedback
  3. Develop and track a plan for improvement of job-related behavior and employability traits
  4. Identify students who will complete a training program on their own, and those who will need more special assistance.

The Employment Inventory is valid and effective . . . and has been widely used in both public job training and the private sector.

  •  EI has been administered to over 30 million individuals by the U.S. private sector over the past 20 years
  • EI has been the subject of more than 200 validation studies
  • EI validation subjects number over 300,000
  • EI was created in real-life work situations. It has been used by more than half of the top U.S. retailers and by leading transportation, food service, health care, manufacturing, employment agencies and airline companies
  • EI is well documented (11 dissertations + 15 American Psychological Association presentations + 25 book chapters + 30 independent university studies)
