If someone else - a central contact person - has the "Account Information Card" and you do not have
direct access to the web-accessed metered CareerScope administrations, follow these instructions:
These instructions assume you have already loaded CareerScope version 6.0 or above and you have someone else - a central coordinator
- requesting the metered administrations from VRI.
Please do not do this transaction while someone is taking CareerScope on your computer or connected local network.
The new CareerScope versions receive metered administrations through a code transaction on the internet, rather
than transferring from a floppy disk. In your organization a central contact, such as tech support or program coordinator, is
the only person with the password to the web site where the codes are generated. To receive the code for turning
on metered administrations on your computer:
- You will need to be at or near the computer needing more administrations (this computer does not necessarily
have to be connected to the internet) and you will need to let the central contact know that you need some metered
CareerScope administrations – either by phone or, perhaps more conveniently, by e-mail
.
- Click on the CareerScope Management System (CS MGMT) icon. Enter your password (if you lose your password
the serial number on the CD case also works as a password – enter without spaces and capital K means capital K). Click
OK.
- In the menu bar at the very top of the CareerScope 6.0 Management System, click on the last option –
Account Operations.
- Now click on Transfer from Website Account to Local Account.
- You should see a blue Authorization Code – this is the code that the central contact will need
from you, along with the number of metered administrations you need. The code can either be read over the phone or e-mailed
to her. It will look something like: 60W10Q-17S6-000522-91F06.
- If you are reading the code over the phone, you should read the "dashes" to her and assume that
the 0 characters are zeros.
- If you are e-mailing the code to her, IMPORTANT: While you are in Transfer from Website
Account to Local Account.:
- Click and drag to highlight only the code (try not to include any blank spaces to the right of the code)
- Use Ctrl C to copy the highlighted code (simultaneously press Ctrl & C - you are in a program
where the Windows Cut command does not work)
- Create an email addressed to Kristy, and now use Ctrl V or click Paste command to paste the highlighted code
into the email and send it to the central contact.
-
Once your Authorization Code from CareerScope is received by phone or e-mail, it will be entered at VRI's
secure web site, along with the number of metered administrations requested, and a "Transfer Code" will be generated
and given back to you over the phone or emailed to you.
-
As with the previous Authorization Code:
-
If you are receiving the code over the phone, you should enter the "dashes" (using lower-case hyphen key)
and assume that the 0 characters are zeros.
-
If you are receiving the code by e-mail, IMPORTANT: Click and drag to highlight only the returned Transfer
Code on the e-mail (try not to include any blank spaces to the right of the code)
-
Use Ctrl C or Copy command to copy the highlighted code (simultaneously press Ctrl & C)
- Now in the open CareerScope management system's Transfer from Website Account
to Local Account.feature - use only Ctrl V to paste the copied code into the green box below "Input Transfer
Code" in the CareerScope management system.
- Then click the "Click to transfer administrations" arrow box to the right and you will see how many metered
administrations your management system now contains.
Important - please be aware of this: Once you have transferred CareerScope
metered administrations to your computers, be careful that you or "systems" people do not uninstall CareerScope or re-format
your hard drives without temporarily sending the administrations back to the Web account. If the CareerScope management
system is erased without doing this, the $5 each metered administrations on that computer will be lost.
If you do need to uninstall the CareerScope Management system from a computer:
You need to return the metered administrations to the web account via your central coordinator.
This is very similar to receiving administrations - but shorter - see the following steps in blue:
- Let the central contact know that you need some metered CareerScope
administrations transfered off your computer – either by phone or by email.
- Click on the CareerScope Management System (CS 6.0 MGMT) icon. Enter your password.
- In the menu bar at the very top of the CareerScope 6.0 Management System, click on the last
option – Account Operations.
- Now click on the last option: Transfer from Local Account to Website
Account.
- Click and drag the slide bar in the center to the right (or click the right arrow many
many times) until the Current Management Account Balance is 0. Then click the Generate button just below (click Yes
to the little warning box that tells you what you are about to do).
- You should see a green Transfer Code – this is the code that
the central contact will need from you. The code can either be read over the phone or e-mailed. It will look
something like: 6070-N0Z40001000000-QFYQ01E49.
- If you are reading the code over the phone, you should read the "dashes" and assume that the
0 characters are zeros.
- If you are e-mailing the code, IMPORTANT: While you are in Transfer from Local
Account to Website Account.:
- Click and drag to highlight only the code (try not to include any blank spaces to the right
of the code)
- Use Ctrl C to copy the highlighted code (simultaneously press Ctrl & C - you are
in a program where the Windows Cut command does not work)
- Create an email addressed to the central contact, and now use Ctrl
V or click Paste command to paste the highlighted code into an e-mail.
- The central contact can now enter the code at the CareerScope web site's Transfer Administrations
To Website option, and your metered administrations will be stored there until you need them back.
- If you are sure you copied and emailed the Transfer Code correctly, or if you are on the phone
and the central contact says it worked - you can close out of the CareerScope Management system and uninstall. CareerScope
will create a back-up database of your existing clients' assessments on the desktop. You should copy this off to
a diskette if you are reformatting the hard drive and want to keep this database file. When you are in the re-installed
or other CareerScope Management System, under DBF Operations menu item it can be "merged" into your new installation of CareerScope
- or accessed on the diskette as an alternate database.
